Singapore Funeral Services was set up in November 1997, under the sole proprietorship of Mr. Victor Hoo Kwok Chye, who graduated from the University of London with an Honours Degree majoring in Economics.

The company has since been committed to providing the complete package of funeral services, ranging from embalming of the deceased, coordinating the funeral wake, to cremating and cemetery services, not to mention arranging for aftercare services to help family members of the deceased through the grieving process. The full-range of services include:

• Doctor’s certification of death
• Transportation of the deceased’s body to the funeral home
• ‘Shou Yee’ (clothing for the deceased)
• Sale and servicing of casket (for cremation/burial)
• Hearse
• Religious/Ceremonial rites
• Tentage setup
• Floral decoration
• Photo development
• Food catering
• Mobile toilet rental
• Cremation/Burial
• Self-help brochures (to overcome grief)

The company’s showroom is currently located at Lorong 8 Toa Payoh, and is mainly used for the viewing of caskets by the deceased’s family. Due to the nature of the business, all his ten staff are employed on a part-time basis, as per the norm in the industry, with the exception of his brother, Mr. Hoo Hung Chye, who is wholly-responsible for the day-to-day operations of the business, since his advent in year 2000.

With the expertise in the various religious practices and professionalism in handling the multi-faceted nature of funeral arrangements, the company is able to put its customers’ hearts at ease and provide them the support that they would require in their time of need.

In the long run, Singapore Funeral Services is continually seeking to differentiate its existing business activities and structure, so as to map out viable strategies to expand its business through new market entry or collaborations with other businesses to form strategic alliances, providing its customers with even more value and hassle-free funeral services.
